Pledge Ruled Unconstitutional.
For the first time ever, a federal appeals court declared the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional Wednesday because of the words "under God" added by Congress in 1954.
While they're at it can we remove "In God We Trust" from the money too?

I'm sorry, Microsoft, but you'll have to do better than that. In fact, never mind. I know that you won't comprehend this, but listen: This is now a universe where laptops can stay up for weeks on end, always return from sleep, update their network parameters without rebooting, install software without "quitting all other applications", never, never die with a blue screen of death, and only ever reboot after installing software for really good reasons.

No Free Preview For Me.
Showtime had a free preview this weekend. So I tuned in to see Odyssey 5, only to find that there wasn't a free preview on ATT Broadband.

So I went over to their website to see what the deal was, and found out that the free preview in my area was only on RCN.

They were showing episodes of Queer Duck on their site though.

Queer huh?

This radio stationis made with MegaSeg. I downloaded it and had fun playing with this DJ software. At first I thought that iTunes would be all I needed to DJ a party.

That's true if you want to set it up and let it run for 5 hours. But if you want to segue (cross-fade) or beatmix between songs without any extra mixing equipment, this might be worth looking into.

MacJanitor.
MacJanitor is designed to be used on a periodic basis by Mac OS X users who don't leave their computer on 24 hours a day. MacJanitor is provided as freeware as a service to laptop and energy-conscious home users.

The Unix subsystems on Mac OS X were originally written for machines that were typically never shut off. Mac OS X inherits this assumption in version 1.x, and has many system maintenance tasks that are scheduled to run between 3 am and 5 am. In addition, there are scripts designed to run weekly on weekends, and once a month in the middle of the night.

If these maintenance tasks are never run (such as on a laptop that is always shut off at night), many log files and system database will grow extremely large or fail to get backed up.
It's free too.

Elvis Costello Review - Boston FleetBoston Pavilion 6/14/2003
Ok, so it was raining and we had planned to go to the Fleet Boston Pavilion to enjoy a nice summer's eve in an open concert venue with Boston Harbor just nearby. The rain dampened my spirits.

While in the line for beer and wine, my wife grabbed an empty beer cup to pour her wine into. The wine glass, read plastic cup, is a joke.

The 'Beer guy' got mad because they count cups to make sure he isn't giving away the store. He gave her a coffee cup for her wine.

After finding our seats, way in the back, Elvis Costello came out and everyone stood up. OK, I can understand. But then the second song started and everyone in front of me kept standing. Other people were seated. Why do I have to sit behind the standers?

They sat down after a while.

Next a little 10 year old girl sitting behind us was trying to scream her appreciation all the way to the front so Elvis could hear her. Well, let me tell you, he didn't, but I did. Thank god she fell asleep after the first half hour.

Does Elvis Costello know how funny it is for him to be singing I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea? with Chelsea, Mass just around the corner?

He played some great tunes off his first album including RADIO, RADIO.

Other highlights for me were, Oliver's Army, Less Than Zero and What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding.

The coolest thing that happened was when my wife asked me what the keyboard player, Steve Nieve, was doing. It seemed that he was making sounds without touching hte keyboard. He was just waving his hands around in a strange way and sounds we being made.

He was playing a Theramin!

Turn Your LPs or Cassettes into CDs.
... or mp3's if you're like me and not using CDs anymore.
Pass Up Good for Great.
Stop for a moment and consider any major decisions you're currently faced with right now. Is there a purchase you need to make? Do you need to choose a new direction for your work? Once you have your choices clearly in mind, ask yourself the following question as you consider each possible choice: "Is this an Absolute Yes?" There's a good chance that you'll know the answer almost as soon as you ask the question. An "Absolute Yes" usually feels like a solid, immediate "Go for it!"
Go for it! No wait, don't go for it.

Elvis Costello is back in the news with a new album.

I guess it's time to sell my Elvis Costello pinback buttons from 1980 on eBay. Even if you're not interested in buying the buttons, check out the listing because I tell a cool story about seeing him in concert.

I put some cool Madness and Clash buttons up there too.
