Go in that direction until you hit a wall or run into something.

"Nethack is one of my all-time favorite games, one I've been playing since 1200 baud was smokin' fast."
-- Actor Wil Wheaton

Guidebook for Nethack.

The guidebook gave me enough information to decide not to play Nethack.

Infocom made my kind of game.

Now I want to play Infocom games on OS X.

You could try to download some of them at Infocom Downloads but they seem to run on Mac Classic.

Zoom is a Z-Machine, which plays text adventure games written in ZCode. So with this option, you'd need to download some ZCode and then figure out how to run the game.

Since I'm looking for an easy way to get this done, I tried this site that says you can play the Infocom games online. Here the games run on a Java window. Too slow though.

Infocom archive - tons of stuff here.

Play The Hitch Hiker's Guide to The Galaxy Game Online - found over at [ Mindgazer ].
Note: Click in the window to allow the game to accept your keystrokes. It's kinda slow though.
