BlogWorld Expo LA 2011: I Bought a Blackmagic Design Intensity Extreme HDMI and Analog Capture & Playback Device - Thunderbolt because of you

I could have written a TOP 5 things I Learned at BlogWorld Expo LA 2011 post, or I could have written a post about the 7 Best Conversations I Had at BlogWorld Expo LA 2011, but I'm going to write about a product that I purchased as a direct result of BlogWorld Expo LA 2011.

I bought a Blackmagic Design Intensity Extreme HDMI and Analog Capture & Playback Device with Thunderbolt connection [ B&H Photo Link ] after seeing a big brother version of it at the Telestream booth on the expo show floor.

Eric Norrell took time to show me how he had it hooked up to his HD video camera.

This is the device I've been waiting for. For years, and years, and years, we've been relegated to using Firewire to live stream from a computer. This means that most of the new HD video cameras that have USB and/or HDMI outputs, can't be used to live stream.

I've got an old Canon GL/2 that has Firewire on it, and many people buy used cameras on eBay for live streaming.

Now, with the Blackmagic Design Intensity Extreme, you will be able to stream with a setup that includes a Macbook Air and HD video camera that has HDMI video out.

This is a big deal.
