2012 Ford Focus Electric Vehicle (EV) | Gas-Free, Battery-Powered Electric Car | Ford.com

I'm looking at the new 2012 Ford Focus Electric Vehicle (EV) Gas-Free, Battery-Powered Electric Car at Ford.com.

I also took a look at the C-Max.

Wondering if either will be a good replacement for my 2000 New Beetle. I've never owned a car for this long.

It needs shocks. ;-)

Your thoughts?

  1. I have a focus EV that I got in June and have more than 3000 miles on it. I love the car. Once you have driven an electric with instant acceleration and very quiet you will not want to go back to a gas engine. For me the 75 mile range is fine I never need to go more than 50 miles round trip. I just put a solar panel on the roof of my house so the fuel is "free" and green.

    1. How does the solar panel on your house recharge your car?

The solar panels probably do not recharge the car directly, except on weekends. Instead, the power is probably stored on the grid during the day and pulled from the grid at night to charge the EV.

And the power isn't "free" until as much power has been generated in the life of the solar system to offset the cost to get the solar system.
