Best Selfie of 2013 by a Priest

Mashable has a slideshow of the Best Selfies of 2013. On the list at #11 is A priest's selfie with a mosaic of Pope Francis.

It's credited this way: IMAGE: FRANCO ORIGLIA/GETTY IMAGES.

The thing is, it's not a selfie, It's an image of a priest taking a selfie of himself.

And I know the priest!

It's my friend, podcasting priest Fr. Roderick Vonhögen.
Fr. Roderick Vonhögen is a Dutch Catholic priest and the founder and CEO of SQPN.com. In addition to his work in new media, he is the host of several television and radioshows in the Netherlands.

So I looked for the actual selfie and easily found it on his site.

The Getty Images photo was also featured in the WSJ as photo of the day on December 4, 2013.

Testing out the NEW Flickr Embed Feature

Flickr just announced a new embed feature. You can use it if you'd opted in to their new BETA version of the site.

Here's the new embed:

Read more about it on the Flickr blog: Flickr Web Embeds.

It's ok.

New Features
I like how the viewer can now scroll through adjacent images and click like. Full screen is nice too.

They say it's Flickr!
It adds FLICKR branding on each photo. I'm a paid Pro user so I'm not exactly pleased with that.

No licensing
Also, Flick still does not embed the licensing information. This is SO important. I've posted my photos as CC BY-NC-SA. As a requirement of the license, people who use my photos need to put the same license with the photo. It would be so much easier if the embed code automatically carried along the license information of the photo.

When I Share YouTube Videos to Facebook, I want them to be EMBEDDED Videos, not TEXT links

When I Share YouTube Videos to Facebook, by clicking the SHARE button:
YouTube SHARE to Facebook

I don't want text links, like this:
YouTube Share on Facebook #FAIL

I want them to be EMBEDDED Videos, like when you directly paste in the URL from YouTube:
YouTube Facebook Post #FTW

FYI:

Nora's Chocolate Cookies

Craft Check for iOS. Is that a craft beer?

My friends Barrett Garese and Rudy Jahchan just officially announced Craft Check, an iOS app to check if the beer you are looking at is officially a Craft Beer as defined by the Craft Brewer’s Association official definition.

They say:

"Good craft beer is hard to find. You might not know it, but most of the “craft” and “micro” breweries you see at your local grocery store are actually made by the same assembly-line, multinational macrobreweries you see advertised nationwide. So to help you distinguish the real craft breweries from the macrobrewed impostors, we made Craft Check - http://www.craftcheckapp.com"

I like craft beer. I like Barrett and Rudy, so I figured for 99 cents, I'd try it.

Opening Screen:

Scan a beer bar code:

I had a Dogfish Head Pils in the fridge... ;-)

Yup. Confirmed.

Would be nice if the CONGRATULATIONS screen incorporated the beer name.

Let's try this one:

Oops.

Note: That was not my beer. It's a beer left in the fridge by a friend. ;-)

Cool idea.

Nice implementation.

How To Fix Google Chrome browser PRINT button that says SAVE

I had a weird problem where any time I clicked PRINT from my Google Chrome browser, the PRINT dialog box would say SAVE.

They I'd have to click, "Print using system dialog..." to get a PRINT button.

Well I finally fixed it. You just CHANGE the DEFAULT PRINT location.

Here's how.

Click FILE > PRINT.

Google Chrome: Print Dialog Save as PDF

Under DESTINATION, click CHANGE...

Google Chrome: CHANGE Print Destination

Then select YOUR default PRINTER in the pop up menu.

Google Chrome: Destination CHANGED to EPSON WF-3520

Voila. Now your print dialog box will say print again.

Click ESCAPE to close PRINT DIALOG box.

via How come my google chrome browser "print" button says only "save" now?
