Nixon Now?

It's not every day you hear someone saying good things about Richard Nixon.

Well, there was the little boy who played J. Lo's son in Maid in Manhattan. He really liked Nixon. (Good movie BTW).

So at last night's convention Arnold gave a rousing speech that almost made me decide that I am a Republican. You know, just because you don't agree with the party on all the issues such as women's rights, stem cell research, gay rights, and faith based initiatives, it doesn't mean you can't still be a Republican.

That seemed to be their theme last night.

Arnold gave an amazing speech. He knows how to pause and not step over his applause lines.

Here's the part of his speech about his decision to become a Republican:
I finally arrived here in 1968. I had empty pockets, but I was full of dreams. The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the Nixon and Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend who spoke German and English, translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which is what I had just left. But then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting government off your back, lowering taxes and strengthening the military. Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air.

I said to my friend, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican!" And I've been a Republican ever since!
Ok then.

I'm still an Independent.

Everyone else was pretty boring and the Bush Twins were all giggly, just like thier mom. And one last thing, the president's daughters aren't political.

Ha!
