[Video] Reggie Watts Opens for Conan O'Brien at the Wang Center 6/5/10
Here's an archived video clip of Reggie Watts at the Wang Center last night. He opened for Conan O'Brien.
Reggie stole the show. It's tough for an opening act when everyone is there to see the main event, but right from the start, Reggie owned the crowd. He started off as an English lecturer explaing the history of music, then used a recorder to record and play back loops of his voice. Really amazing.
The crowd loved Conan too. Conan explained that on TV he has to appeal to a wide audience, but loves this tour because he can talk directly to his local audience. Conan then went on to name lots of local towns including ones that out of towners pronounce incorrectly like Worcester. Duxbury got picked on. Funny stuff.
Conan was best when he was sharing personal stories including explaining why he can't be on TV and all the other things that the court won't allow him to do. It was ironic when he was talking about being poor yet has a multi-million dollar settlement.
The video spoofs were great especially the opening one where we got to see Conan fat with a beard.
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was hillarious. It was nicve to see Andy Richter, I've always enjoyed him. Too bad Ed Helms didn't show up like he did last night.
Here's a video of Ed Helms:
Conan told us that last night's show was going to be way better than the night before. That was funny.
The Dropkick Murphys brought the house down with their Shipping up to Boston song.
Great tune.
I'm looking forward to Conan's new show. I hope he gets Reggie Watts a lot of air time.
