Buyers Guide: Real Video Camera Suggestions

Maybe it's time for you to upgrade to a "real" video camera beyond an iPhone/iPad/DSLR?

I just saw this question over on Facebook and answered there, so I thought I'd post here too.

This question has a lot of answers depending on your needs. For me, I have a lot of camera options, but right now I use a few depending on the situation.

On the run:

iPhone 5 with iRig Mic.

Recording Boston Media Makers Roll Call with XShot and iRig Mic

At my desk:

Logitech C920 webcam with AudioTechnica AT2020 USB Mic

Logitech C920 has a Tripod Mount. See? cmp.ly/1

Pro shoots:

Panasonic SD100 HD Video camera (It's an older model) with Sennheiser MKE400 Shotgun Mic. This one allows you to also monitor the video with headphones while recording (very important) and it has a flip out display so you can see the framing when you shoot yourself.
