Old Ladies and Gas Stations Do Not Mix.
I was filling up my car at a gas station this afternoon and looked over at the other car. There was an old lady, an old man and a poodle.

These people were moving as fast as molasses.

It looked like they were planning to leave, since they both got into the car and started putting on their seat belts.

At this point I walked over to the drivers side and tapped on the window. The old lady cranked the window down.

Me: Are you planning to leave?
Old Lady: Yes I am.
Me: You still have the filler hose from the gas pump stuck in your gas tank. I think you should remove it before pulling away.
Old Lady: Oh My! Heavens to Betsy!

I just hope she is not driving anywhere near an open air farmers market.

55th Annual Emmy Award Nominations are out.
Here are my picks from the categories I care about:

Outstanding Comedy Series - Curb Your Enthusiasm.
I love this show and can not wait for it to return.

Outstanding Drama Series - For me it's between Six Feet Under, The Sopranos and 24 - I choose 24.
I watch them all, but would be most upset if I missed an episode of 24.

Outstanding Miniseries - Steven Spielberg Presents Taken
There
were a lot of episodes of this miniseries in a row, but I watched them all and enjoyed them all too. Taken was the best science fiction miniseries I've ever seen.

Outstanding Nonfiction Program (Alternative) - Da Ali G Show • HBO
Ali G rocks and I hope we get to see more of him on US TV. This show is 'Nonfiction'? That's a funny one.

Outstanding Reality/Competition Program - The Amazing Race or American Idol - I'd have to choose The Amazing Race.
I'm glad this show is on in the summer when there's less competition. My favorite thing is to pause my TiVo and try to decide what I would do as each situation arises.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series - It's a tie!
Curb Your Enthusiasm • HBO • HBO Original Programming
Larry David as Himself

Monk • USA • Mandeville Films, Inc. in association with Touchstone Television
Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk

The winners of this category have got to be a tie between Larry Davin and Tony Shalhoub. If I had to choose between them, I'd go with Tony since he's acting and Larry is just being himself, I think.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series:
Six Feet Under • HBO • The Greenblatt/Janollari Studios and Actual Size, Inc. in aassociation with HBO Original Programming
Peter Krause as Nate Fisher
He's so good it's scary.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series
Alias • ABC • Touchstone Television
Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow
No contest.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Curb Your Enthusiasm • HBO • HBO Original Programming
Cheryl Hines as Cheryl David
Cheryl is so good in this role that people think she's married to Larry in real life!

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series
Six Feet Under • HBO • The Greenblatt/Janollari Studios
and Actual Size, Inc. in aassociation with HBO Original Programming
Lauren Ambrose as Claire Fisher.
She's amazing.

Don't Go To Forest Hills Tonight!
Go! Thursday from today's Boston Globe gets it wrong when they tell you to GO to the Forest Hills Lantern Festival tonight.

It was last week!

[ I just got an email from the Globe: There was a mix-up and the item ended up running this week instead of last. ]

They get it right though when they tell you to check out The Information at T.T. the Bear's Place.

If you go, say hi to Lindsay at the merchandise table!
Will Markson for President 2004: Weblog.
The miracle of the World Wide Web means Will can keep you posted on his campaign activities with nothing more than a laptop computer, an Internet connection, a double-skim latte, his favorite "online journal writing" hat, someone to rub his shoulders while he types, and his trusty pair of giant fuzzy slippers that closely resemble the feet of a ferocious tiger!

Such simplicity means he'll keep us up to date on his campaign through this regular online journal. Stories from the road. Thoughts on current events. Crazy ideas that will be cleverly framed as "innovative." Apologies and mea culpas. The details of what he had for breakfast at a diner in Concord, NH. You get the idea.
My presidential candidate, Will Markson, is starting a weblog.

He's joining the political weblog revolution to bring his campaign to the people.

Go Will!

Can't eBay choose a better font?
Can someone explain why eBay is using a font, in their menu, where you can see jagged edges?

Do they want to make their site look like it isn't professional?

What's the deal with that?

UPDATE: The current header was just released on Wednesday and is touted as an improvement!

Lenny Clarke is on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight.

I love Carson Kressley.

He steals the show Queer Eye For The Straight Guy.

I usually have The Real World Paris queued up to watch on my TiVo, but took a look at Queer Eye For The Straight Guy on Bravo last night and could not stop watching.

I did flip back over to Real World to watch Adam, who is the son of one of the Commodores, decide to dump Talayeh, the beautiful girl with a great personality. Not the smartest move. He needs to grow up.

Those gay guys should visit Paris and teach him a few things!

Bell Curve.
Are kids still graded on a bell curve?

I hate the bell curve.

If I taught a class, I'd give all the students A's if they deserved it.

Russian Coin.
I just found this Russian coin in a drawer.

The other side has an image of Lenin on it and the dates 1870-1970.

What does it say and what it it worth?

tinymixtapes.com.
A just found this site that has:
Music Reviews | Auto Mix-Tapes | Concert Reviews | Tours | Releases | Articles | Interviews

Featuring groups that I like, like:
Urlich Schnauss.
The New Pornographers.
Prefuse 73.

Good stuff.

Gates 'slept with Jordan'.
Sensational revelations claim little Gareth Gates did indeed have a bit of the old how's-yer-fathers with Jordan.
I don't even know who these people are, but I just had to post the how's-yer-fathers quote.

This Just In From Megastar News:
Dreamy Bend It Like Beckham babe Keira Knightley was top among a major throng of stars in London's sweaty Leicester Square for the premiere of US box office smash Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Also making a rare sleb appearance was a very Treasure Island-looking Mackenzie Crook (or Gareth from The Office to you and us), replete in Jim Lad bandana and straggly Becks hair.
Finally, some Mackenzie Crook news.

NameZero and Networks Solutions: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do.
Namezero was previously a reseller for Network Solutions. Upon the recent acquisition of NameZero by CAS Holdings we are in the process of breaking this relationship with Network Solutions. Network Solutions has made renewals for NameZero nearly impossible as we are attempting to move the domain over to our data base, since the relationship is coming to an end. What you need to do is renew the domain at Network Solutions so you do not risk losing the domain. Once the domain is renewed, you can then transfer the domain back to NameZero. We are not able to renew the domain for you through our service at this time. I am sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused for you. We will contact Netsol and have them place your domain into a retail account so you can renew it. This process can take up to 10 days.

Once again, there is no way to renew your domain with us but once you renew your domain, you can transfer back to us. To transfer your domain back to us and receive your Free Webmail, Free Email Forwarding, and URL Forwarding, it will only cost, $19.95. This will also add an additional year to the year that Network Solutions will add. If you would like to do this, reply back to this message and we will re-initiate the transfer for you.
This has got to be one of the most confusing explanations ever.

Network Solutions says it costs $35, for me to renew.

Then Network Solutions says it will cost $19 to transfer my domain.

So it's going to cost me $54 for the next year of my domain, and then $19.95 for the second year over at NameZero?

Breakups like this always badly affect the children.

UPDATE: I didn't have to renew at Network Solutions after all. Customer Service was wrong.

Eh, he's a nice old man, isn't he?

PAUL
