ABC News Then
Lost Remote reviews media coverage of hurricane Frances:
ABC News Now digital channel took West Palm Beach's WPBF in full. WPBF also simulcast on several radio stations in the area for those who had battery-powered radios but no access to TV.ABC News Now is now my favorite news channel. It will continue to be my favorite news channel if they take feeds from local ABC affiliates when big news happens.

Pasta dinner
I had fun last night making this really tasty pasta dinner. It was one of those nights where I threw together what was on hand to make dinner.
Here's what I did. First I got a some Revival Soy Pasta cooking on the stove.
Then I chopped up a bunch of fresh tomatoes from the garden and threw them in a frypan, along with some olive oil, chopped garlic, and meatballs from Trader Joe's.
When the pasta was all done, I drained it and then mixed everything together in the pasta pot and let it sit for a little while.
Delicious!

George Bush Makes Sense
REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT:
Another drag on our economy is the current tax code, which is a complicated mess-filled with special interest loopholes, saddling our people with more than six billion hours of paperwork and headache every year. The American people deserve-and our economic future demands-a simpler, fairer, pro-growth system. In a new term, I will lead a bipartisan effort to reform and simplify the federal tax code.Thank you.
Panty Protest
If I'd gone to NYC for the RNC, I'd have probably covered this panty protest.
Triumph The Insult Comic Dog was there to cover it and then he pooped on my website.

Rendition: Sent away for torture
Dateline Australia reports - Maher Arar-His Road to Damascus:
Maher Arar: Timeline.

This is What They Did to Me By MAHER ARAR.
As Dateline alleged last month, Australian citizen Mamdouh Habib was severely tortured in Egypt, where he'd been sent by the United States as part of its policy of 'rendition' - the outsourcing of interrogation and torture to countries known for their human rights abuses. Canada is now dealing with a case that is eerily similar to Mamdouh Habib's. Maher Arar, a Canadian citizen passing through the US, was seized by the Americans and sent to Syria, where he was allegedly tortured to extract information for the Americans. But it seems there was nothing to extract. Bronwyn Adcock reports. This is the first I've heard about this.

Orwellian Convention
Dowbrigade has been watching the Republican convention and sees it as Compassionate Fascism:
It is positively Orwellian the way they have used the lens of the government and the media to distort the image they project, turning it almost upside down. A rush to war becomes a drive to peace. Apparent peace becomes secret war.Lots of people are saying, "Hey, these Republicans aren't so bad after all."
So we are starting to entertain fantasies of turning Republican, making influential connections, and joining the ruling class. We can only hope that before we fall irretrievably under the spell of these masterful media magicians and vote for a Republican for the first time in our long electoral career, we will have the sense to pull the plug on the set or somehow disable the damn transponder they have planted in our brain. For we know after a lifetime of research that even the most engaging and persistent hallucinations eventually fade, and one comes crashing back to cold, hard reality.
