Obama Wins New Hampshire Democratic Primary Election

OBAMA WINS

President Barack Obama won the New Hampshire Democratic Primary Election with 82% of the vote over his closest challenger, Ed Cowen coming in at 2%. Details here.

Following Cowen were five candidates with 1%, Vermin Supreme, Randall Terry, Cornelius O'Connor, John Haywood, and Craig Freis. Seven other candidates came in at a statistical 0% with vote totals under 300 votes.

This is a big win for the President. In 2008, Hillary Rodham Clinton won the New Hampshire Primary and that win signaled the start of a tough and drawn out campaign for the Democratic nomination.

This year will be different.

Let's see how long the Republicans continue to beat each other up on the campaign trail, softening up the preemptive nominee, Mitt Romney, for the general election.

There are many ways to download YouTube videos. This is a browser independent way.

How To Download YouTube Videos with MPEG Streamclip.

Grab the BETA version of MPEG Streamclip.

OPEN MPEG Streamclip.



From the FILE menu, Choose OPEN URL. This dialog box pops up:


In your browser, navigate to the YouTube Video you want to download.



Grab it's URL.





PASTE that URL into the Open URL dialog box on MPEG Streamclip.

Select the Download and HD radio buttons and CLICK Download.

Enter a save location and click SAVE.

Your video is now being downloaded.



Click it open and there it is!

How To Embed A Playlist of Your YouTube Videos

Here's how to Embed A Playlist of Your YouTube Videos. It presents the most recent video first, and plays your videos in order. A pop up scroller let's you pick and choose which videos you want to see.

STEP 1:
Go to your YouTube page and pick a playlist that you want to embed.

I'm choosing all uploaded videos.



STEP 2:
Click that playlist, and the first video will show up.

On the first video, CLICK SHARE, OPTIONS, INCLUDE PLAYLIST.



STEP 3:
Copy your unique Playlist ID after "?list="

STEP 4:
Make a new blog post and paste in this code, changing my playlist ID code to yours:

If you get Telestream Wirecast Error -4024 you probably don't have your broadcast settings entered correctly.

Telestream support says:
Often we see that error if the address for streaming is incorrect. Please check those export settings and destination address and verify that they are correct.

Which CDN are you broadcasting to? Check with them to verify the address. The name of the channel needs to match what is registered with the CDN exactly.

That's right.

This is a user interface problem with the Broadcast Settings dialog box.

See how it asks for Channel and Username?

Normally, that configuration is asking for Username and Password.

I'd add a line under Channel, and then add a spot for Password under username.

The Massachusetts "Death with Dignity" Initiative may appear on the November 6, 2012 general election ballot in the state of Massachusetts as an indirect initiated state statute. The measure was filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General and would establish an "Act Relative to Death with Dignity". The petition number for the initiative is 11-12, and was filed by Michael Clarke.[1]

According to reports, the proposed measure would allow for a terminally ill patient to be given lethal drugs. A terminally ill patient would be defined as a patient being given six months or less to live. However, the patient looking to obtain the drugs must be coherent enough to make those medical decisions while consulting their respective doctor. Patients must be required to submit their request in writing twice, and those requests must be fifteen days apart.[2]

A highly contested ballot measure that will likely epitomize the statewide citizen vote in 2012 may be inching toward actualization. The Massachusetts Death with Dignity Act, a proposal that says terminally ill patients facing imminent death should be allowed to self-administer a lethal dose of medication (also known as physician-assisted suicide), has received more than 86,000 signatures and been sent to the office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth.

If the state legislature fails to act on the proposal, it will go on the November ballot.

That post has a few things wrong.

Right to die:

The right to die is the ethical or institutional entitlement of the individual to commit suicide or to undergo voluntary euthanasia.

Secretary of State William Galvin to file statewide ballot questions proposing 'death with dignity,' medical marijuana and teacher evaluations.

The Massachusetts Medical Society has not taken a position on the death with dignity ballot question. An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that the medical society opposed the question.

BOSTON -- Secretary of State William F. Galvin is moving forward four proposed statewide ballot questions including measures to allow terminally ill patients to self-administer drugs to take their lives and another to create a new system for evaluating teachers.

Galvin plans to file the four ballot questions with the clerk of the state House of Representatives on Wednesday, marking another step in the process for such citizen initiatives. Under the state Constitution, legislators will now have until May 2 to pass the ballot questions as bills. If the bills don't pass or legislators fail to act, supporters would need to gather an additional 11,485 voter signatures to qualify for the Nov. 6 ballot...

According to the "death with dignity" ballot question, patients would be allowed to ask for life-ending medications from a doctor if they are terminally ill. Modeled after a law in Washington state, the proposed law would be available for people with six months or less to live and they would need to take the medications themselves after obtaining a prescription.

How to Create a Free Google Search Story Video

Here's an easy way to make a video without having to be on camera or using a video camera.

Google has a free application, Google Search Stories Video Creator, that lets you create a video by entering search terms.

You are allowed to enter six search terms which are acted upon and one search term for the final page.

I chose three search terms for Google Search:

Steve Garfield, Get Seen, and Boston Media Makers.

Then I used the same terms with a Google Image Search.

I used "Visit SteveGarfield.com for more" as my final search term.

Here are the steps.

My 3 Words for 2012

Following the example of Chris Brogan, here are my 3 Words for 2012.

Broadcast
In 2011 I experimented with the interaction between people formerly known as the audience, and broadcasting, with SteveGarfield.tv. I used twitter and started getting into live video chats using G+.

This year I want to experiment more with real time interaction and branch out into TV. In 2011 I was very close to being a live blogger for The X Factor, but it didn't happen.

If any TV shows are interested in working with me in 2012, I'd love to talk.

Play
This year I want to do more than just take my books on vacation with me without ever opening them. I'm going to focus on reading more. I also want to get back into to sports including tennis and golf.

Invest
As some of you know I'm an investor and advisor to internet startups. I enjoy this, and 2011 was a very good year. I'm excited to help the companies I'm invested in, and I'll be looking for more companies to work with in 2012.

Also note:
I'm going to pronounce 2012 as twenty-twelve.
