Mercedes-Benz of Burlington - Front Page Boston Globe

Luxury car dealers boost showroom amenities. Features Mercedes-Benz of Burlington. By Callum Borchers GLOBE STAFF FEBRUARY 25, 2015

At dealer Bernie Moreno’s Mercedes-Benz of Burlington, for instance, the cafe is next to a salon where customers can get free manicures and hair styling while their cars are in the shop. If routine maintenance is not done in 45 minutes, that work is free, too.

“If we can deliver value and speed — plus the experience — and the price difference is minimal, then the client comes back for everything, which is what we want,” (Bernie) Moreno said. “We want them to get used to coming here for anything that has to do with their car.”
It's exciting to see one of the companies that I have a financial interest in, featured on the front page of The Boston Globe.

Let me know if you are in the market for a new or certified pre-owned car, and I'll be happy to introduce you someone who can take care of you and give you a fair deal.

It's 2014, Come On Boston Globe, Link to the Main Subject of your Story!

They don't care.

Once again The Boston Globe doesn't link to the main subject of their story.

STORY:
Boston Globe: ’14 Marathon apparel draws mixed early reviews.
The 2014 Celebration Jacket made its debut last week in Solar Zest, a fluorescent orange with contrast blue and white striping around the shoulders and across the back. Boston Athletic Association officials consulted with Adidas on the colors and design, which include an embroidered BAA logo with the words “Boston Runs as One” on the back collar. The saying is an evolution of Adidas’s “Boston Stands as One” motto conceived just days after last year’s Marathon bombings.

MAIN SUBJECT:

The Boston Marathon The 2014 Celebration Jacket.

If readers want to learn more they'll have to use Google or Bing, or copy and paste, to see the source.

In this story, readers will want to see a larger image of the jacket, or buy the jacket. What's the Globe afraid of?

Linking out to the adidas site would make things a lot easier. See below.

CHANGE THIS:
The 2014 Celebration Jacket...

Ranft, who will run in support of the Brookline Teen Center, isn’t sure he will buy the $110 jacket, which is available at adidas.com. He’s seems to be in good company, given the stream of critical reviews at the sportswear company’s e-commerce site.

The Boston Globe: Ballots are fodder for social media updates

The Boston Globe: As with all else in a social mediasoaked age, people are growing less private about their ballots
The Boston Globe: Ballots are fodder for social media updates, a photo by stevegarfield on Flickr.

I'm in the Boston Globe today, talking about how social media sharing now includes information on how we voted.

As with all else in a social mediasoaked age, people are growing less private about their ballots:
"When Steve Garfield tries a new beer or goes to a concert, he automatically posts his opinions on social media. So after he voted, he naturally shared his secret ballot with his 2,382 Facebook friends. ““I didn’t even think of it as anything to think about,” said Garfield, an independent media producer from Jamaica Plain and an Obama supporter.
Anyone who was following me on social media already knew that I was going to vote for Barack Obama, so it wasn't like it was a big unveiling of a huge secret. ;-)

In fact, after I voted, I just shared a bunch of photos of the "I Voted" sticker, stuck on things, like beer, wine, and a ketchup bottle.

Also part of the interview, but not printed in the paper were my thoughts on how social sharing of political views brought me closer to friends and family.

For people with similar political views, it was fun to share, and see what what was shared. I also enjoyed reading and responding to posts on twitter, facebook and Google+.

FACEBOOK

I found that Facebook was the social media outpost where there was the least confrontations. That's most likely because over there, I actually knew most of hte people that I was talking with.

Check this funny example: Tweet - I'm moving to Australia

GOOGLE+

Over on Google+, many of the people who were responding to my posts, were followers. People who follow me on the site, but who I don't know well. Some of those people agreed with me and others didn't. Some of those that didn't agree seemed like they were from another planet. Luckily, others jumped in to respond.

Check this example: Mitt Romney changing his tune in final hours

How was your experience during #election2012 sharing on social media?

Note:

To be accurate, I have 551 Public Subscribers and 2,382 Friend Subscribers.

So it would have been more accurate to have said, "his 2,933 Facebook friends and subscribers" instead of "his 2,379 Facebook friends"
