Marine Week Boston 2010 - Osprey Flight
YouTube version. Eric Schwartzman invited me, David Meerman Scott, Todd Van Hoosear, CC Chapman and Doug Haslam to visit Hanscom AFB for an Osprey Flight over Boston in celebration of Marine Week Boston. Marine Week happens in a different city every year. This week it's in Boston from May 3-9. There's a whole schedule of events and demonstrations that will take place all week. A big event is happening on Saturday: Family Day at Moakley Park and DCR Carson Beach ![]() After a briefing on where our flight would go, we went outside to take photos and wait for our flight. Here's the Osprey: ![]() The cool thing the Osprey is that it takes off like a helicopter, then it flys like a plane. Here's a video of one taking off: This video features David Meerman Scott interviewing a Marine who is explaining what goes on during Marine Week. This is what it looks like inside the Ospery: ![]() They fly with the back door open 90% of the time. Here's a view out the back: ![]() CC Chapman got a great shot of me taking a photo of live streaming from my iPhone with Qik. ![]() Photo CC Chappman CC BY-NC-ND Here's an archived live Qik stream: Turn down the sound. We didn't hear all this noise since we had both ear plugs and headsets. My favorite shot of the day: ![]() Here's my Marine Week Boston 2010 - Osprey Flight Flickr Photo Set. Steve, thanks for the great writeup, and the fun video mashup too. What a blast, eh? I finally got around to putting my thoughts down from the trip. My post on the 4 lessons I learned from our experience is now live.
