All these seem pretty interesting experiments. I'd add that hearsay.it is doing some interesting stuff around social news reading too but trying to help users build a news graph outside Facebook rather than grafting news consumption on to it. The attraction of FB is obvious - a lot of people already there, a lot of time spent there. But the drawbacks are also obvious. A lot of people there, a lot of noise, and no/small revenue.
We built Hearsay ( http://hearsay.it ) to let people who really want to be part of social news distribution and consumption play with the idea in an environment where it is really clear what you are doing. We think that a lot of people can benefit from passive sharing, but it might be better to have a single URL of what you have read that day which people can visit, than to have every single story tickering past everyone you know. Love to know what you think of it. Links to this post:![]() This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.
