I'd like an answer to this one:
You say the rich do not pay enough taxes. In 1979 the top 1 percent of earners paid 19.75 percent of income taxes. Today they pay 36.3 percent. How much is enough?I wonder what George Will would be like at Passover?

Every player has to take the Wonderlic intelligence test. Here's a sample question:Hey Michael,
A plane travels 70 feet in 1/10 second. At this same speed, how many feet will it travel in 3 seconds?
You can't take too long to come up with the correct answer (which is 2,450) because 50 questions have to be answered in 12 minutes.

BOSTON-- Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney fulfilled one of his constitutional duties yesterday when he named the replacement for former Senator John F. Kerry, who was elected President last November. Romney came through on a promise he made on air at WRKO and selected one of the station's talk hosts to be the Commonwealth's new junior senator.
"Nothing So Strange" is a feature-length faux documentary about the investigation into the assassination of Microsoft chairman Bill GatesNice How-To video about the making of Brian Fleming's documentary.
A rumor that was circulated widely on the Internet and in the British press, purportedly linking Senator John Kerry to a much younger woman, crumbled Monday as the woman issued a strong denial and the Internet site that launched the report changed its story.Moral of the story - Drudge was wrong.
INT. DANCEFLOOR - LATERNice.
Gail and Nick are talking on the dance floor, their dance is pretty much non existent. They don't have much space, and have to avoid people behind them knocking into them. This, in a way, brings them closer to each others. The song playing in the club is OutKast - The Way You Move
Ryanair has confirmed it is taking "no-frills" flying a stage further by ordering a fleet of planes without reclining seats or window blinds. That'll solve the problem of the inconsiderate moron in front of you pushing his seat back all the way!
Non-religious beliefs such as humanism, agnosticism and atheism would be covered alongside major faiths such as Christianity or Islam under draft guidelines being prepared by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, which regulates what is taught in schools in England. What is humanism?
At about 7 that night, while taking a sharp turn on Wild Ammonoosuc Road in Woodsville, N.H., Murray lost control and slammed into a snow bank. Shaken by the accident, and apparently intoxicated, Murray told a witness she didn't need help, local police said. The witness went to call the police and by the time they arrived Murray was gone.
"We're starting with a clean slate - I think," said Starr, who took with her a miniature replica of the Liberty Bell - a gift from the Philadelphia exchange intended to be used to start and end the trading day when the Baghdad Stock Exchange is back. How cute.
It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool.Sweet!
WE MUST NOT SCARE ANYONE AWAY from seeing the film. Let's face it - people don't talk much in movie theaters, just like they don't talk much in elevators. If we violate the social norms, we run the risk of ruining our chance to speak truth with credibility.Ha Ha!
Go together as a group, but SPREAD OUT in the theater for maximum contact with people.
DO NOT BOW your heads in prayer in the theater.
DO NOT PREY UPON PEOPLE as they try to leave.
Let's call it the Rational People's Party, or RPP. We'd meet every month to talk about local and national politics, to start new weblogs and meetups, to broadcast our ideas and invite political leaders to pitch themselves. If they wandered off-topic we'd ask them to get back on track. If one broke a campaign promise, this would appear on a public list, for every local RPP chapter to access.Dowbrigade calls it Breaking Out the Big Tent Movement
It seems to the Dowbrigade that there are all of the necessary elements in place to see an effective Movement coalesce and emerge from the dashed dreams and bruised egos of the Dean disaster. There is a large base of people out there who are deeply dissatisfied with the direction this country is taking, and they are gradually finding each other, and a voice, in the Blogosphere. They are motivated, educated, and ready to put their money where their keyboards are posting.I hope it could be as fun as Dilbert's New Ruling Class, the DNRC.
Mom: What church do you affiliate with? (OH NO!!!!!)Yikes.
Mer: I'm open ? I definitely believe. (translation ? church? huh?)
Mom: I want to know that my grandchildren would be raised in a Christian home.
Mer: Christian Dior? Oh that will work?.
Religion is really important to Lanny and hopes Meredith is 'willing to embrace things.' Shouldn't you have had this conversation a while ago? Kiss of death is when Mom launches into how Lanny would be head of household and Mer would have to respect that.

Bunnell's First Law of RetrievabilityKarl Sabbagh
Everything is retrievable.
Bunnell's Second Law of Retrievability
Everything is stored somewhere. The secret to retrieving things is simply finding out where they are stored.
Sabbagh's First LawIrene Pepperberg
Never assume.
All the mistakes I have made in my life—not that there are that many, of course—have been because I failed to follow my own law.
Sabbagh's Second Law
The biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has occurred.
Pepperberg's Law of Comparative CognitionGotta start working on mine.
Any behavior exhibited by young children that is taken as evidence of the early emergence of intelligence will, when subsequently exhibited by nonhumans, be interpreted by many humans as a set of simple stimulus-response associations lacking cognitive processing, whereas the stimulus-response explanation will rarely be used to re-interpret the behavior of the child.
Look, I'm sorry to have put you through all this. I was just goofing around when I made that comment about wanting to see a debate between the general and the deserter. I had no idea that it would lead to this. And there you were, having to suffer through Tim Russert on Sunday, saying weird things like "I'm a war president!" I guess you believe that, or you want us to believe that. Americans have never voted out a Commander-in-Chief during a war. I guess that's what you're hoping for. You need the war. He's a war president?
But we don't. And our troops in the National Guard don't either. I know you see the writing on the wall, so why not come clean now? We are a forgiving people, and though you will not be returned to White House, you will find us grateful for a little bit of truth. Answer our questions, apologize to the nation, and bring our kids home.
It is certainly time to ignore the polls, the pundits, and everything you've been told is the truth as of this moment. It sounds like he's right but if you believe his premise, maybe he's wrong.
George W. Bush and John Kerry both spent their mid twenties in uniform. The similarities end there.via [ bloggerheads ]
January, 1969:
Kerry takes command of a new Swift boat, completing 18 missions over 48 days, almost all in the Mekong Delta area.
November 1969:
Bush is flown to the White House by President Nixon for a date with daughter Tricia.

The great news is that they have resurrected the Mars rover "Spirit". Turns out it was just a 'disk full' error. By deleting a bunch of old files they were able to reboot. It must be all those high resolution photos filling up some old 5 MB disk they've got up there.
One of the best beers Samuel Adams has ever made! Get one before they are gone (only 50,000 wine sized bottles were made!!).If it's love, give chocolate beer
Welcome to the brand-new FilmFights.com. Why do we exist? Because people with video cameras, talent, and spare time need an outlet for their creative energies! Because making something that the masses agree is better than the other guy's stuff is honorable, and means you are THE MAN, with SKILLS.I've gotta get into this.
We're like a democratic filmfestival that anyone can enter, 3 times a month.
A web site republishing the best blog posts from around the web.Hmm. Not the newest idea, but they do have a nice logo.

Me: What kind of fruit was it?Ha.
Teacher: Forbidden fruit.
Me: Yes, but was it a peach, pineapple, a mango? ( I was going to say ketchup, since this was during the "Ketchup is a vegetable" thing, but that would have blown my cover. )
Teacher: The important thing is that they broke God's commandment.
Me: So, the commandment itself didn't really mean anything. There was nothing wrong with the fruit, per se.
Teacher: You misunderstand me. The fruit was evil.
Me: Oh, evil fruit. That's different. And that's what God called it, evil fruit?
Teacher: Evil Fruit.
Me: (pretending to look this up) Actually it says here it's both Good and Evil Fruit.
Teacher: It was mostly Evil.
Me: But it's actual name was Good and Evil Fruit.
Teacher: Technically, yes.
Me: Wait a minute, I got that wrong. It actually says it's the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.
Teacher: Something like that.
Me: That's a direct quote.
Teacher: Okay. So you have your answer.
Book of SFX is a weekly performance of field recordings and sound experiments gathered during the previous week. Most, but not all, of our material is culled from common events occurring in the Boston area, so we like to think of these sounds as "natural", or what you might hear in your everyday life. We bring theTonight on WZBC, 90.3 FM in Boston and online.
raw sounds into the studio and manipulate them live on-air for approximately an hour. We typically have a different theme every week.
In this week's volume in the ongoing Book of SFX series:
A 45-minute soundwalk from the waning moments of Sunday's Super Bowl to its glorious aftermath. The walk starts with five minutes left in the game right outside of the Haymarket subway and onto the street, and then moves to Bar 1, back outdoors (with a denial of entry into Bar 2), back into Bar 1 for the final ticks of the clock, back out into the street, and down in the subway. We won't play the walk in its entirety, but will take sound-rich snippets from each singular minute of the walk and play/manipulate those snippets in (approximate) chronological order to create a new hour-long product.
"We made a lot of noise," Kerry said yesterday before a campaign stop in Fargo, N.D., where he took a few minutes to reminisce by phone about his band. "It was a very good time."Look for Erik Lindgren of Arf! Arf! Records on tonight's segment.
It all started with a very simple idea, said Andrew Gagarin, the group's co-founder and maraca player and one of Kerry's prep school classmates.
"The whole idea was to meet more babes," he said, calling from Watch Hill, R.I., where he's in the real estate business. "At that time, life wasn't worth living without a girlfriend, so we spent every waking moment of our lives looking for ways to meet girls."
I have to wonder how many of the people who click the link to my Blog are expecting something vastly different from what they actually find here. But really, why can't a person identify herself both as a "hot Abercrombie chick" and at the same time as a thinking, intelligent person? Maybe I help to dissolve the blonde-preppy-girl stereotype somewhat, and maybe not. But in either case, I am the same person, and I can continue to be amused people's reactions.via [ Lindsayism ]
"Tim [Ireland] runs darkly humorous campaigns from his website: to get Blair on email, to guide protest against Bush during his recent visit, to raise awareness of the Guantanamo prisoners. No injustice or infringement of human rights seems to go unnoticed. And it's all done with a humanity and compassion which, if they could be bottled, would make the world a better place overnight. The Bloggerheads website is probably one of the most innovative examples in the UK of how activism can be stimulated and nurtured online."Go check out the nominees and visit Tim's site.

"How did you feel when you saw the children die?", I asked.
His answer shocked me.
"I had no sympathy at all because I was taught to think that they were all enemies of our country and that all our country's problems were their fault. So I felt they deserved to die."
New, more creative nicknames could open up a whole new range of expressions for commentators. A simple "Touchdown!!!" could be replaced by "Mazel Tov!" when "Temple" Bethel Johnson scores. Or if Johnson escapes the defense on a kick return, previously inaccessible expressions like, "Johnson just said Shabbat Shalom to the defense," would now be available for use. This is clearly an improvement for formerly linguistically stymied commentators and fans alike.Oy Vey!
"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."I guess that stuff about getting hot and taking off clothes wasn't appreciated.
Justin Timberlake sent the half-time Super Bowl show into X-rated territory by tearing off half of Janet Jackson's bra.How could I have missed that!
After two touchdowns in the real game, the evening's "top-down" came at the end of a show headlined by Jackson and including the wild man of pop, who was the show's secret special guest, reports an Australian website.
The astounding stunt appeared to have been planned all along, with Jackson sporting a strategically placed star over her right nipple, which had been exposed to the watching millions.
Later it was confirmed that CBS, which broadcasts the Super Bowl and the half-time show, had approved of the tear-of strip.
The flag should never be used as clothingAt this point I'm wishing that they'd get Aerosmith and Beyonce back.
