[Video] Lady Gaga Thown in a Trashcan, Loves Springsteen's Thunder Road
Just got this from MTV:
Lady Gaga Reveals For the First Time Intimate Stories of Her Youth and Path to Stardom in Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside, New Hour-Long Documentary Set to Premiere on MTV Thursday, May 26th at 9pm ET/PT
Teaser Trailer to Premiere on MTV on Thursday, May 19th at 10:58pm ET/PT
NEW YORK, NY – May 18, 2011 – With her third album, BORN THIS WAY, set to debut on May 23rd, the legend of Lady Gaga to date has been well documented. But who is the girl that became this pop-culture and musical icon, and what legacy does she want to leave?
MTV today announced the premiere of an exclusive brand new hour-long interview, Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside, that will compel viewers to look beyond the outlandish outfits, spectacular live performances, and controversy, and instead appreciate the forces, events and influences that shaped Stefani Germanotta’s ascension into one of pop music’s most influential and successful artists of our time – through her own words. The special will debut exclusively on MTV domestically on Thursday, May 26th at 9pm ET/PT, and internationally in mid-June across more than 150 territories (check local listings). The documentary will then be made available in the U.S. for free on-demand streaming on MTV.com.
A teaser trailer will premiere exclusively on MTV on Thursday, May 19th at 10:58pm ET/PT, following a new episode of Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew.
Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside features an intimate, stripped-down interview with Lady Gaga, who recounts never-before-heard life experiences that shaped her early years and brought her to where she is today. From the moment she looked in the mirror and decided she was meant to be a star, to the “Thunder Road” challenge she accepted from her father to land her first baby grand piano, Lady Gaga shares an abundance of personal and poignant stories that includes: the inspiration behind her first song, the impact of being bullied at school, her musical and style influences, her relationship with her family, her love of late night bike rides around Brooklyn, and much more. Viewers will also learn how she juggles fame and her career, along with fans and her personal life, and the social causes that drive her.
During part of the interview, Gaga recalls being bullied in school and the lasting impact it had on her:
“I remember once some of the girls from my class, they were hanging out with some boys that I knew also and the, I went to meet some friends for some pizza that were at the same pizzeria and the boys picked me up and threw me in the trashcan, on the street. On the corner of my block while all the other girls from the school were leaving and could see me in the trash and everybody was laughing and I was even laughing. I always have that nervous… giggle and I just remember like holding back the tears and the lip quivering and don’t let them see you and I remember even one of the girls looking at me like “Are you about to cry? You’re pathetic.” That’s what I, that’s what I felt like, you’re pathetic. “Are you about to cry?” And I just, I remember I didn’t tell anybody, that’s what I remember. I remember I didn’t tell anybody. I remember I didn’t want to tell my parents because it was too embarrassing. And I remember I didn’t want to really bring it up with my girlfriends because even though they were there.”
In addition, the classically trained pianist discloses how a deal with her father involving his love of Bruce Springsteen led to getting her first piano:
“My dad was really into rock-n-roll. Bruce Springsteen had such an influence on our home. My dad saw me singing along to his records and he would pick me up and throw me around the room and laugh and cry with me while I would sing Pink Floyd and Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel records with him. My father gave me I believe it was for Christmas it was a Bruce Springsteen songbook for the piano and on it was Thunder Road which is my favorite Bruce Springsteen song and my dad said, “If you learn how to play this song we will take out a loan for a grand piano, a baby grand.” I didn’t know the difference. There was the big one and a small one. So I remember it was the hardest thing for me I was playing these huge pieces like 15 pages long and then there was this Beethoven or I mean and then there was this Bruce Springsteen song that was like I opened up the book and there was like cords, guitar cords I was so confused I didn’t understand it so I just started to read it and eventually- eventually I got it down.”

CBSNews.com debuts “What’s Trending” Starring Shira Lazar Next Week
Lost Remote: CBSNews.com to debut social show ‘What’s Trending’:
What’s Trending launches on Tuesday, May 17, it will stream live on CBSNews.com, and possibly on live streaming services, as well. The show may remind you of The Stream, a new social news show that airs on Al Jazeera on TV and on the web. “It’s important to note that we are an interactive TV show that is distributed online,” explains Damon Berger, who founded the digital entertainment company Disrupt/Group with Lazar and is co-executive producer of the show. “We don’t view ourselves as a ‘web show.’”

Levolor Accordia Cellular Shades - Installed
Note: The color of the shade is actually SNOW. Doesn't show up in the photo.
These are very cool shades. This is a Levolor Accordia Cellular Top Down/Bottom Up shade. So you have total control.
The install was easy too, just four screws for the mounting brackets, and the shade popped right in.
I got a good deal online at Steve's Blinds and Wallpaper. They had a very straight forward online ordering system that made it easy. There was free shipping, but a manufacturer handling fee of $4.95. Not a big deal.

Summary: How to Create On-the-Fly Videos to Enhance Your Social Media Content

Steve Garfield – How to Create On-the-Fly Videos to Enhance Your Social Media ContentAlso in the post are summaries of Jeremiah Owyang, Brian Solis and Mari Smith's presentations.
Steve Garfield, videoblogging pioneer and author of Get Seen, promised numerous tips for putting videos online, and he did not disappoint.
He emphasized that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get started. In fact, begin with the camera you have, like your webcam or your smartphone. The iPhone4, Droid X and Nokia N8 all record great quality HD video. Even the new iMac has an HD webcam. Here are many of the tips that Steve mentioned during his talk:
Good alternatives to the Flip are the Sony Bloggie, Kodak Playsport, Kodak Playfull and Nokia N8. Although Cisco has discontinued the Flip, there is still demand for standalone pocket HD videocameras. One reason is that only 25% of people have smartphones with HD video. Plus, you might prefer using a pocket HD videocam if you want to conserve your smartphone battery, or if you’d like to give cameras to your team to use.
Both YouTube and Facebook have options to either record from a webcam or to upload your already recorded video. When recording from a webcam, do check the quality because it varies depending on your computer and your connection.
Use Livestream or Ustream to stream live. Both are free as web interface versions, and they also have paid fuller-featured versions available as a desktop app. Steve now uses the desktop apps exclusively because of the improved connection and video quality, as well as the enhanced features. The Ustream ProducerPro desktop version even has the ability to have multiple cameras without an additional hardware solution such as TriCaster.
You can also do live streaming from a smartphone. (Only 7% of the audience had ever tried this.) Steve sees this “happenstance broadcasting” as a big opportunity and encouraged people to try it. You’re not encumbered by a laptop or huge camera – you just walk around with your smartphone. Use Qik (just acquired by Skype) or Ustream Broadcaster on your smartphone to do this. For better quality, try to get on wifi instead of using your phone’s cell service.
The latest iMovie version makes video editing and direct sharing very simple. You can save directly to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and CNN iReport. Apple just announced it’s working on a new version of Final Cut Pro, which combines current Final Cut Pro features and iMovie features. PC people seem to like Adobe Premiere.
CNN iReport, a user-generated section of CNN.com, presents another big opportunity. You share your video on CNN’s iReport page and it appears live. If CNN producers like it, they pass it on to CNN.com. If those producers like it, they then pass it on to CNN television.
Use Wetoku to record side-by-side remote interviews. You sign in and get an invite code, which you email to your interviewee. She clicks on it and then pops up on the other side of the screen. When the interview is over, you save it and put the embed code anywhere you want.
To make videos with a completely different look and feel, consider using Stupeflix for remixed video themes, or Xtranormal or Goanimate for editable animated videos.
Lots of tips from Steve – pick one and give it a try!
You can watch the replay and still register to see 19 more presentations at the Social Media Success Summit registration page.

NY Times: Seinfeld on the Web, Portion Controlled:
For the site Mr. Seinfeld has opened his vault and come back with more than 1,000 clips of his stand-up act and comedic interviews. One segment dates to 1977, when Mr. Seinfeld, wearing glasses and wide lapels and speaking with a distinct Noo Yawk accent, made his television debut on “Celebrity Cabaret.” The others range from his first network television appearance, on a 1981 broadcast of “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” (an occasion whose 30th anniversary coincides with the site’s opening day) to the present.Cool.
But each day the Web page will offer only three of these videos, chosen by Mr. Seinfeld, a strategy that reflects his theories about online content as well as his concerns about what he called “portion control.”
“I don’t want everything,” he said. “Burger King now has a burger where you decide how many patties. How disgusting is that? That’s the problem right there. That’s the cultural moment that I am repudiating here.”
