I'm Getting Gas.
Keyspan is moving my gas line to the other side of the street.

They are making way for the Sewer Department, who's coming by next to replace all the sewer lines on the street.

It's a sound party out there today, jackhammers, bulldozers and power generators!

There's also a side stage next door where workers are replacing a roof and rebuilding three porches.

My Aunt went over to see this on her way home from the doctors office. She takes a taxi, so she asked the driver to swing by the hospital, so she could take a look.

She told us she saw it, but was afraid to step out of the taxi. We asked her why and she didn't know why.

I told her that it was just mass hysteria. "It's scary though," she said.

Yes, I agree. It's scary that so many people believe this nonsense.

And don't get me started on the virgin birth.

While my wife and I were driving around yesterday, trying to find our way to Milton, I joked that it would funny to put a video camera on the dashboard and film us trying to decide which way to go.

I said that if we were on that show, Amazing Race, they'd refer to us as: Married Couple: Never fight. Then the fun part of the show would be the anticipation to see if we'd ever argue.

This urban challenge looks like a little mini Amazing Race.

We just had the best day.

The sun was shining, finally. We worked in the yard. and watered the plants.

After chatting with the neighbors, who walked by, we drove over to Allendale Farm in Jamaica Plain. In addition to having fresh produce, annuals and perennials, they have a pond full of turtles and polliwogs. There a a couple of cows there too and a hen house with a rooster that was crowing his brains out!

After the farm we took a ride over to Roslindale to see if we could get a seat at Delfino's. We'd heard a lot about it and wanted to try it out. The wait is usually 1 - 2 hours. At least that's what I had heard, so we went over at 4:30. We were seated right away. After getting bread and water, it seemed that we were the only table not being waited on. Well, it turned out that our table was the swing table and the waitresses took turns. Only the turns order got all screwed up and we had to ask for a waitress.

After we got our waitress everything was looking up from there. We ordered a nice Pinot Grigio and a scallops and shrimp plate. Mine was done with Pesto and my wife's was done with garlic and oil.

It was so amazing.

Please don't tell any of your friends so the wait won't be too long when we go back!

Wireless E911 in Massachusetts.
On The Pulse last night, there was a segment about people who die because states have not implemented Enhanced 911.

States have been collecting money from cell phone users for years to pay for this service, but have not implemented it.

I emailed Verizon to see if they have enhanced 911 in Massachusetts.

Their response:

At this time, E911 is not available in the Massachusetts area. We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of this situation.

Most states have been collecting funds from wireless customers to pay for the enhancements. We would suggest contacting your state Governor as well as your Mayor and/or police chief for further assistance regarding release dates

Time to contact the Governor.

This is the response I got:

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has had wire-line Enhanced 9-1-1 statewide since 1997.

We also just became Phase I compliant with wireless Enhanced 9-1-1. That means wireless 9-1-1 calls provide a callback number and cell site location when they are made. However, we are not yet Phase II compliant -- this is when wireless 9-1-1 calls also provide a physical location of the caller.

The SETB has been collecting a $.30 per month fee from wireless cell phone owners in Massachusetts since July 2002. These funds are used to implement both Phases I & II of wireless Enhanced 9-1-1. We are currently finalizing plans to outfit our three wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 call centers (operated by the State Police in Framingham, Middleboro & Northampton) with the necessary database, network, customer premise equipment, maintenance & monitoring, and training to handle the Phase II calls. When this is complete (hopefully by spring/summer 2004), we will request Phase II data from the wireless providers. They then have six months to fulfill this request, which means that our current target date for Phase II wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 in Massachusetts is late 2004/early 2005.

Nice. I guess I'll have to email Verizon to tell them that they have Phase I E911.

Maybe you should check the status in your state.
