Social Media Desktop
I use Twhirl as my social media desktop.
In this picture you can see, from left to right, Friendfeed, Seesmic, Twitter and Twitter.
Friendfeed
In twhirl I can see new posts by my friends, and click on them to 'like' them and/or comment. The cream rises to the top. As my friend's click 'like' in friendfeed, the posts rise to the top. That's one way to keep track of intersting things on the web.
Seesmic
In the Seesmic window, I can keep track of everyone's new video posts, or just my friends. What I love about using Seesmic via twhirl is that I can both watch and record Seesmic videos from twhirl, without having to go to the seesmic site. This makes seesmic so much easier to use for me.
The next window is my 'secret' twitter account where I follow 123 people.
This next window is my main twitter account where I currently follow 9,825 people, and where 8,937 people follow me. This is the twitter account I post to. I also monitor this pane and have conversations here throughout the day.
Disclosure:
Twhirl is owned by Seesmic, I'm an investor.
