How to Add Clickable Links to YouTube Videos using FCP X.

In order to increase engagement on YouTube, it's a good idea to give your viewer clickable links at the end of your videos.

In this example I've linked to a related video, and to a Subscribe Button

Here's how I set it up in Final Cut Pro X:

On the timeline add a short clip from another video, and add a subscribe button.

After uploading the video to YouTube, you have to add ANNOTATIONS.

Use SPOTLIGHT MODE.

Then CLICK 'Link', SELECT 'Video', and add in the URL of the other YouTube video.

Here you CLICK 'Link', SELECT 'Subscribe', then add your YouTube channel name.

GM Disclosure:

GM provided me with a 2013 Chevy Volt to test for a week. The car came with a full tank of gas and insurance coverage. I was not asked to write anything about the car in exchange for the opportunity and was not provided any other compensation of any kind. All opinions I express regarding the Chevy Volt are my own.

How to Turn Off Instagram Video Auto Play and Sound

When in Instagram, CLICK on the BOTTOM RIGHT icon to get to your PROFILE page:

Just like in the good old days of last week.

From 2007, My Rocketboom Report on a prototype of The Chevy Volt Electric Car

Today I'm getting a Chevy Volt to test drive for a week.

Back in 2007 when I was a correspondent for Rocketboom, a prototype of the Chevy Volt came to Boston and I had the opportunity to interview one of the lead designers.

Make sure you stay with this video through the end to see how I deal with someone who barged into the interview and started asking questions.

I used this for a talking point when teaching for a number of years.

If you were reporting, what would you have done?

Jimmy Fallon asked viewers to take video of themselves playing video games with their moms. I did it and my mom and I made it on tv for 2 seconds. I love America.

Gaming With My Mom

Jimmy Fallon is featuring games all next week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

He asked viewers to send in videos of themselves playing a video game with their mom.

See: Be a Part of “Gaming With My Mom”

Well, how could I NOT do this.

I took a ride up to my mom's. She's 87 and up for anything.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Camera. I chose it because it has a nice built in wide angle lens. I also used a Quantaray tripod. I set the camera up just behind the top of her iMac screen, pointed down.

TEST PHOTO
First I took a test shot to make sure the framing was right. I used the Galaxy Camera's voice activation to take this photo.

SMILE!

I should have combed my hair.

VIDEO TEST
Next up was a video test. In this first video I ask my mom what she knows about video games:

PONG
Next up we played Pong on Google Chrome:

MAH JONG
Finally we tried Mah Jong:

Tim Tebow traded from the NY Jets to New England Patriots.

That calls for Jimmy Fallon to bring back Tebowie singing Rebel, Rebel on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Would have aired on June 12, 2013, but the Bruins/Chicago Stanley Cup Game went long.
