Barack Obama Wall Hanging

Barack Obama Wall Hanging

Barack Obama Wall Hanging

Barack Obama Wall Hanging

I wanted to hang some Barack Obama pictures on my office wall, but I wanted to have a flexible wall hanging system so I could change the arrangement.

I ended up with a system from AS Hanging Systems.

First up is the Wal Track A1005KC which costs $22.50

There are (12) holes in the track to secure to your wall.

I made it level.

Then attached the Self-Gripping Hook (Small $7.25 each) to the J-End Stainless Steel Cable 48" / 120cm ($6.40 each)

Then the hook attaches to the track.

Boston City Hall: The World’s Ugliest Building

Boston City Hall, originally uploaded by stevegarfield.

Virtual Tourist: The World’s Top 10 Ugliest Buildings:
1) Boston City Hall; Boston, Massachusetts

While it was hip for it’s time, this concrete structure now gets routinely criticized for its dreary façade and incongruity with the rest of the city’s more genteel architecture. Luckily, it’s very close to more aesthetically pleasing attractions.
Boston Herald: Boston City Hall named world’s ugliest building
It’s official now. Boston City Hall is the ugliest building . . . in the world!
Boston.com: City Hall picked one of world's ugliest buildings
Now City Hall, which opened in 1969, is getting some unflattering international attention: It heads the list of the "World's Top 10 Ugliest Buildings and Monuments" compiled by the website VirtualTourist.com, which provides travel information.
Dear Boston.com,

It's the ugliest.

That should be the title of your story.

You Sunk My Battleship: Tim Libby Recreates Board Games as Art

Battleship

Saint Louis Beacon - Review: Nothing boring in board game paintings:
"Tim Liddy's 'Stratagem' at the William Shearburn Gallery is the kind of thing only a painter of Liddy's caliber should ever take on.

Liddy -- known for making gargantuan, intelligent sign montages -- has begun making trompe l'oeil versions on copper of vintage board game boxes."
Wow!

Talking Points Memo is one giant experiment. Huff Po and Huff Po/Off the Bus are experiments. Politico, and now Politico 44, are experiments. Spot.us is an experiment. Outside.in is an experiment. VoiceofSanDiego.org and MinnPost.com and STLBeacon.org are all experiments. There are tons more going on, and there will be tons more in the future.

GMail is not my main email program, the Mac mail app is, but I installed the GMail video chat to try it out.

One cool thing you can do is import all your AIM conacts into GMail chat aka GTalk.

President Elect Obama should get on UStream and talk with us

If you look at President Elect Barack Obama's twitter history, most tweets are "In state name", or "Speaking in state name", Holding a town hall in state name". That was great for following him when he went live.

I suggest that he starts up UStream and chats with us like he uses iChat to talk to his family. We're his family now. Fire up UStream and send out a tweet announcing it.

That's Still Not Right: Boston Water and Sewer

Reposted from September 2005:
I just went to set up automatic payments over at the Boston Water and Sewer website.

Can't be done. D'oh.

Isn't it 2005?

One of the things I hate most is having to pay monthly bills by hand. It's invasive. I prefer to have everything done automatically.

The Boston Water and Sewer Commission allows you to pay your bills with CheckFree. CheckFree? Who uses that?

PayPal I could understand, but CheckFree? Please.

They want you to set up a new account with CheckFree in order to log on EACH MONTH to pay your water and sewer bill.

Hello?

My electric and gas bills are deducted automatically. Can you guys get on the bandwagon here?

In the meantime I went over to my Bank of America online account to pay this current bill online.

So to do that you've got to add a payee.

Search for Boston Water and Sewer... nothing comes up.

Brilliant.

I searched one more time and figured out that it's stored on the Bank of America site as Boston Water & Sewer. Lame.
I'm still waiting for automatic bill pay.

Irony: Polluting the Neighborhood with Signs to Keep it Clean

Sign PollutionSign Pollution

It was bad enough when the City of Boston installed a NO TRUCKS sign on the street, but today the City of Boston Public Works Department just installed a Street Cleaning sign that's going to be valid only two more times this year, then valid starting again next April.

Couldn't they have planned ahead and put the NO TRUCKS sign on the right hand side of the street, so that they could have just added the STREET CLEANING sign to the same pole?

A Dog for Malia and Sasha Obama

it's a dog's life, i wanna lead a dog's life by aye_shamus, on Flickr CC BY-NC-ND

The Boston Globe's Sam Allis writes one of his best columns ever about President-elect Barack Obama's dog decision, A howling debate:
"Every family should have a dog. Every president needs at least one for photo ops. George W. Bush has Barney and Miss Beazley. Ike had Heidi. Nixon, of course, had Checkers. My personal favorites were LBJ's Him and Her.

If a prez doesn't have a dog, it means he's a communist and he loses the entire dog people vote, a disturbing bunch who stretch from the redwood forests to the gulfstream waters. Obama's presidency could hinge on getting this one right."
I'm rooting for a Greyhound. Maybe from Massachusetts?
