Awesome @JESS3 Graphic: The Message is the Messenger
Awesome @JESS3 Graphic. See it full size and read the blog post at The Message is the Messenger.
Here's a detailed view of the Content/Media Section:

Content/Media Section of The Message is the Messenger [Infographic]
I'm psyched to be poster neighbors with Jennifer Van Grove, Ann Handley, David Meerman Scott, Joe Chernov and Amber Naslund!
Joe Chernov, Director of Content for Eloqua, just published a JESS3 infographic designed to tease / complement a SXSW panel called, "Media Tomorrow: The Message is the Messenger."
The panel is about the rise in personal brands as a trusted form of media.
Joe says in an email, "the panel is essentially contemporizing the Marshall McLuhan aphorism ("the medium is the message") to reflect democratized media."
I'll have to go to this panel to hear how he gets from The Medium is the Message to The Message is the Messenger.
My brain already hurts.

Where I'll Be At SXSW 2011. Most likely.
Just got this in my email:
It's the summer camp experience that I never had.
Day Camp
When I was little I went to day camp. I didn't want to go, but my parents made me.
I didn't learn how to play baseball, didn't learn how to swim, and didn't make any lasting friendships.
I only went for one year.
The things I remember:
1. Rowing a boat
2. Shooting a bow and arrow
3. Cooking a hot dog on a stick
There were much better family vacations after that experience, where I did learn how to swim and made great friendships, but baseball and I have never gotten along.
SXSW
Then came my SXSW experience.

I learned a lot about video at SXSW Film, I learned how to schedule my time and how NOT to schedule it, and I made lifelong friends.
There are very good sessions at SXSW, and I encourage you to go to sessions where you don't know much about the topic. You will learn some things.
But...
The most important reason to go to SXSW is people.
SXSW is people!
My Schedule
So if you want to meet at SXSW, here's My Schedule:

Here's my Plancast page.

Lots of my schedule is fluid. This year I've been swamped with off site events and still need to spend some time looking at the schedule.
See you in Austin!
Are you heading to SXSW this year? Am flying tomorrow, would be great to meet up if you are around, haven’t seen you for ages :-)This is one of the reasons why I love SXSW.

Behind the scenes, online, while the Today Show is live.
Cool.
I love this stuff.
Update:
I hate this.
Too much Kathie Lee this early in the morning.
I can't take it.
Everyone is SO excited about broadcast live behind the scenes. It's not such a television breakthrough. The Early Show on CBS has been doing it for a while, and as for live streaming to the web, unfiltered and unmediated content, well myself and others been doing that for years.
Love you Ann!
Mike Proulx writes, 2-Screen Convergence: The Today Show Synced Broadcast/Webcast:
A few things I was thinking as I was watching:Agreed with #2. The webcast was way too noisy.
- As a big fan of the show, I enjoyed seeing the complexity of what goes into it
- It was near impossible to pay attention to both screens at the same time
- I prefer the 2nd screen to compliment the broadcast instead of competing with it
- There’s got to be a way for show sponsors to gain benefit from the web stream
As much as the geek in me loves (and goes out of his way to participate in) any form of TV + Web convergence, the last 2 bullets, above, are key considerations as we all move forward in a world where our screens are converging.

Now The City of Boston Transportation Department is coming out with Boston Parking Meter Smart Cards:
The second upcoming change to the City’s parking meter system will be the implementation of a pilot credit card program at 144 single space meters in Boston’s Financial District. Drivers who park at multi-space meters already have the option of paying by credit card and this pilot program will provide drivers who park at these 144 single space meters with the credit card option as well. The pilot program will be executed in February. What can I say about this?
Finally, the Transportation Department will also soon be unveiling Boston Parking Meter Smart Cards. The Smart Cards will be reloadable debit cards designed for use at single space meters throughout the City, with the exception of those single space meters included in the credit card pilot program. When available, Parking Meter Smart Cards will be sold at the Office of the Parking Clerk in Room 224, Boston City Hall and at the BTD Tow Lot at 200 Frontage Road. Eventually, they will be available for purchase online.
Commissioner Tinlin concluded, “BTD is working hard to provide Boston drivers with the best modern technology available to ensure that parking on local streets is simple, convenient and affordable. Most people simply do not carry around fistfuls of quarters any longer and our goal is to see that Boston’s on-street public parking system adapts to this reality.”

Boston Parking Meters: Three Year Test Was Success, Let's Start All Over
Today's Boston Globe reports: For parking, a choice of coins or plastic, Test program puts credit card readers on some prime downtown meters:
City officials decided to launch the pilot program following the success of the multispace meters offering credit card payment on Newbury and Boylston streets in the Back Bay and in the Bulfinch Triangle downtown, which were put in place three years ago, according to Transportation Commissioner Thomas J. Tinlin....Why would you need to test a NEW system, after "the success of the multispace meters"?
He said officials will have to see how the meters respond to the full range of New England’s punishing weather before deciding whether to proceed from the free pilot program — with materials provided by the San Diego-based IPS Group Inc. — to a permanent program, which would be put out to bid.
That's not right.

Amazon.com's Visa Cardholder Unfriendly Rewards Redemption Procedure
I just got a cry for help from a friend asking how to redeem his points in Amazon.com's Visa Cardholder Rewards Program.
It's not easy.
It used to work better. When you spent enough, you'd get an Amazon Gift Certificate in the mail. You could use it to buy anything on Amazon.com after keying in the Gift Certificate number online.
Side note:
It would have been a better program if the reward amount was directly credited to your Amazon Account, but that was never going to happen. They like it when gift certificates go unused.
Then they made it worse.
Instead of automatically sending out the certificates, now you have to go online to redeem them.
Then they mail them to you, and then you key them in online.
This new program introduces another impediment between you redeeming you earning and then redeeming your rewards.
So for my friend, here's 9 Steps to redeem your Amazon.com's Visa Cardholder Rewards online:
1. Log on to your AccountThat's Not Right.
2. Click Amazon.com Rewards Credit Card
3. Click Redeem your rewards
4. Click $25 Amazon.com® gift certificate
5. Click Add to Cart
6. Click Check Out
7. Click Next
8. Click Next
9. Click Order Reward Items
Just credit my Amazon.com account directly instead of making me go online to redeem the award, so that you can mail me a certificate, that I then have to key into a computer.
Mailing me the Amazon.com award certificate, and making me go online again to key in the awards certificate number, isn't right.
More info:
How do I redeem my points?
You can redeem your points by logging onto chase.com/amazonrewards or by calling 1-888-247-4080. Redemptions include Amazon.com gift cards, cash, a selection gift cards, airline tickets and other options. Restrictions apply. View Rewards Program Rules and Regulations [PDF]
