Adam Weiss and I streamed this video live during a recording session where we tested powered microphones on the Kodak Zi8.
We get going at 4:28
You won't be able to hear the microphones since they were plugged into the Kodak Zi8. I'll be posting those videos in a while. Stay tuned. Follow me on twitter
@stevegarfield for updates.
how do you like the Zi8 so far? I need to get a new HD Camera and smaller the better. Flip MinoHD cool but no external mic available. Look forward to seeing the video when it's up.
ReplyDeleteSo far I like it. It needs a headphone jack to be able to monitor the sound though. Also, I'd like a wider angle lens.
ReplyDeleteYea, a wider angle is important; the N95 needs that as I've cut peoples heads off and didn't know till viewing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm bouncing between smaller HD camcorder like Canon Vixia HF series or possibly Sanyo's XACTi HD2000.
The Kodak specs don't mention whether or not the mic input jack has a few volts on it as most camcorders do in order to power electret condenser mics, and I saw a review where they said the sound through a lapel mic was low and noisy - indicating to me that perhaps it is passive. Still waiting for Kodak to ship mine, let us know how it works out with external mics.
ReplyDeleteThe Sony ECM-DS70P Electret Condenser Mic works. I've got it listed here:
