CC BY-NC-SA Favorite moment from last night: @ShiraLazar refers to Andrew Garfield as Steve Garfield on the #Oscars iPad live stream.  It would have been nice if the control room cam was not broadcast on a delay. I would have liked to have seen a raw feed of the host cam, instead they had a director choosing camera shots for that cam. The live red carpet cam reminded me of last year's Oscars where I was on the red carpet, as a guest of Kodak, in seat 1, row 1 and doing some live streaming via Ustream. New MacBook Pro

For my Canon GL/2 it's going to need a new iLink 4 pin to 9 pin Firewire cable for live streaming. Wonder how the Thunderbolt port will be used for video streaming. Can I stream Soylent Green? Amazon Prime Streaming Video vs. Netflix
I wanted to try out Amazon.com Prime Streaming  video on my TiVo, but soon found out that it's not supported yet. So I tried streaming it to my browser. Works well, great movie. Q: Can I watch Soylent Green on my TiVo? A: Amazon Prime: No, but you can stream it in a browser. Netflix: No. Only available on DVD.  Q: How many movies and TV shows can I watch? A: Amazon Prime: 5,000 movies and TV shows from their library of 90,000 movies and TV shows. Trying to Watch The Social Network at Home
Netflix At first I thought I'd watch The Social Network via Netflix and add it to my queue. But when I last went to check, I saw that it was a very long wait.  And it's not available for streaming. Next try, Amazon. Amazon: Video On Demand - Streaming I've got Amazon.com on Demand video on my TiVo. When I chose to watch the movie, I was asked for a 4 digit PIN #. I didn't know my PIN #. D'oh!  Time to head to the computer. Amazon: Video On Demand - Download I went over to my computer and chose to Download the movie to my Tivo.  Then I went to the TiVo to see the status of the download. Nothing. Watched last week's Glee, then took a look at NOW PLAYING. The Social Network was not there. Ended up giving up and checked mail. Download Failed There were a number of failure messages telling me that my Tivo didn't have enough room on it to download The Social Network. Greetings from the Amazon Video on Demand Team!After making room, the download started. Note: It cost $3.99 to download to my TiVo via the computer vs. $4.99 to download directly from the TiVo. Feedback to Amazon So I gave some feedback to Amazon.com suggesting that they send the failure message direct to the TiVo box Messages. Amazon Responds Amazon wrote right back: Thanks for suggesting that we add the ability to send an error message such as the insufficient space to the TiVo messages directly, to Video On Demand. Customer feedback like yours is very important in helping us continue to improve the experience of watching our digital videos.Nice fast response. I'll be Watching - Very Soon The Social Network is now on my TiVo. I'll be watching it shortly. Very shortly it seems since it's going to be deleted from my TiVo tomorrow! Once a broadcaster is approved for Ustream’s Open PPV program, they will be able to monetize their content via PayPal payments. Let’s say you host a weekly show, such as a music show, a cooking show or a conference on Ustream, but you decide to produce an episode with special content – such as high-profile guests or a private lesson. As an approved Ustream Open PPV user you’ll be able to charge your viewers to watch the premium content. And, voila – pay-per-view is democratized and broadcasters have a chance to attract some of Ustream’s 45 million monthly viewers.Just got my authorization email.
