Beacon Hill: The Movie.
Michael Landes was great as Billy Dylan in this movie that was shot entirely around Boston. It played tonight at the Fenway AMC Theater as part of the Boston International Comedy and Movie Festival.
Sometimes these movies are a hit or miss affair, but I can honestly say that this one was a hit!
The photography showed off the city of Boston in an amazing way. The helicopter shots over the city were beautiful.
It was fun to see one of my favoruite local pubs in the movie, Doyle's of Jamaica Plain!
The movie was all about a freshman representative going to the state house for his first term and the obstacles he faces along the way. He also gets involved with a few lovely young ladies. One of whom he ended up marrying in real life, if I'm reading the credits correctly.
The music provided a nice background to the action. I liked it when we heard Irish music everythime the red head showed up.
I do have a couple of questions though:
Can Lenny Clarke really type? He had a small part as a campaign aide. I have no idea what he was doing to that laptop computer. Maybe that was the comedy part of the movie.
If you represent Jamaica Plain and leave the State House, how can you get on a Blue Line train and end up crossing the Charles River? I guess you were headed to Cambridge to meet some friends.
Finally, nice job Howie Carr. that was an easy gig for you just being yourself!
