Samiyah Diaz for State Senate

Now you'll be able to vote for Samiyah Diaz for State Senate in either the Republican or Democratic primary!

It would be so great if she won both!

Wilkerson may resort to a sticker campaign
:
State Senator Dianne Wilkerson, who has had a long history of legal problems, may have to wage a difficult sticker campaign for reelection this fall after failing to collect enough signatures to qualify for a place on the ballot.

People are Ford

Kelly Clarkson sings GO [ mp3 ] Ford Motor Company's new "Bold Moves" anthem.

I was telling Eric Rice earlier today that Ford's new ad campaign really made an impression on me. They are emphasising people in their new ads. I saw one of their ads in Business Week magazine and the picture of a little girl made an impression on me, as did the Ford brand.

Also, on last night's ( TiVo time-shifted ) Alias, the talk about how quiet the electric Ford was, also left an impression.
"I see you finally got a Ford Hybrid"

"Electric - good for when you need to be quiet"

followed by a zoom in of the "Hybrid" plate on the car when they park. [1]
Too bad you can't easily find which car they were talking about either on the Ford or Alias website.

Front Row is Art

I just used my Front Row remote to watch some movie previews in full screen and saw a preview for Art School Confidential.

This is pretty insane.

Emanating Light

Emanating Light by stevegarfield, uploaded from flickr.

I have seen the light of Photo Booth on Macintosh.

It's like when MacWrite and MacPaint came out for the first time and everybody went crazy adding all kinds of fonts and images to their documents.

I'm having fun with my new Mac.

I snapped this photo with Photo Booth, then captured the screen with [CMD][SHIFT][3]. But now that I take a second look at it, all I had to do was click the little camera icon to snap a picture and then drag the little Polaroid looking photo to my desktop.

Upload to Flickr, then post to blog. Done.

Still listening to KEXP too.

KEXP Blog goes live!

I'm listening to KEXP in iTunes this afternoon. This station rocks.

They just went live with the KEXP Blog too.

MacBook Pro Internet Connection Issues

MacInTouch helped me figure out my network connection problem with my new MacBook Pro.

I sent them a little note:
Got my new MacBook Pro 17" today. The only thing I transferred from my old powerbook were my network settings.

Then, when I tried either the direct connect Etherenet cable to my Linksys router, or my Airport, neither worked.

Why oh why did I transfer those network settings?

Then I read through the messages here and saw a pointer to a tip to completely power off the cable modem, router and airport, and MacBook Pro.

After doing that and resarting everything, both internet connections work.

Thanks MacInTouch!
;-)

Fisherman in Chief

Bush's best moment in office? Reeling in big perch:
"U.S. President George W. Bush told a German newspaper his best moment in more than five years in office was catching a big perch in his own lake."
According to the Washington Post, it was a Bass and Bush was joking.

Bush Jokes About Best Moment As President:
"I would say the best moment was when I caught a 7 1/2-pound largemouth bass on my lake," Bush said, laughing."

Your Photos on Boston.com Become Their Photos

These old photos posted by Mad Max on Your Photos at The Boston Globe's Boston.com caught my eye. I went over to take a look and saw an issue with the Boston.com Your Photos page.

Unlike Flickr, where they say "What's Yours is Yours", Boston.com makes your photos their property:
"By submitting your photo(s) to Boston.com, you agree that such photo(s) and the accompanying information will become the property of Boston.com and you grant Boston.com, The Boston Globe, Boston Metro and their sublicensees permission to publicly display, reproduce and use the photographs in any form or media for any and (all editorial and related promotional purposes) purposes..
Not cool.

I've already contacted them about this when Your Photos launched but never heard back.

Oh, and a few more things. I don't see any way to contact Mad Max, leave a comment, or easily post a link to these photos.

Flickr wins!

Four Eyed Monsters on Fox

Fox 25 did a segment on Video Podcasting. Here's For Eyed Monsters on Fox.

Via Holland Wilde who asks:
What is vlogging? Is it simply getting a camera, acting stupid, and up-loading it to the internet? No, it is not, but big media would like us to think it is. A vlog is not a mini, personal TV station…we have too much TV now. Vlogging can be a revolutionary media tool for social change. But will it be used that way?

Soup is On: New Vlog Soup

Another free video tour of the vlogosphere is out, Vlog Soup: Episode 13:
"This week on Vlog Soup we start off with Boston Improv comedy group Hooray For Funn. Rich Pav walks to work in Japan. We sample Joi Ito TV. ABC News starts podcasting and discounts Rocketboom. We check in with The Young Turks, a Daily Internet Talk Show. Storypipe tries the news with jokes in front of a map format. Rynaldo Papoy is commenting on his countries political leaders. Girl with a movie camera covers the protests in France, up close. Port City PD brings high quality production values to a vlog police story. Aaron Valdez comments on media by remixing it. and Ze Frank single-handedly reshapes our expectations for what an intelligent news show can be."
Yay!

Just an FYI.

Network Neutrality at Berkman tonight

Tonight's Berkman Center for Internet and Society meeting should be both fun and very pertinent. Colin Rhinesmith, will be talking about network neutrality and advocacy against discrimination in access to the net. This is a key issue of what the internet will be like going forward, and it's being debated in Congress right now.

Colin has a couple links of interest if anyone wants to check 'em out ahead of the meeting:
