Chris Brogan is making a big push for his book, Trust Agents. On his blog he says he needs 768 sales of his book before Saturday.
I asked him why. He's ahead of me in publishing his book and I'm interested in the behind the scenes workings of the best seller lists. Where does the #768 come from and why Saturday?
My book, Get Seen, comes out later this year.
At 9:10 AM his book is # 605 in Best Sellers in Books on Amazon.com
Let's watch during the day to see it climb.
Update: 12:08 PM #55 in Books on Amazon.com
Update: 9:24 PM #32 in books!
ABC News did a report called Secrets of the Amazon Best-Seller List. In it they explain:
Amazon is a "long tail" retailer. At the very top-- rankings No. 1 to No. 10-- a book could be selling 3,000 to 10,000 copies a week through the Internet retailer. So all it takes is, say, 500 to 1,000 copies manhandled through the system on a single day to get your book into the top ranks. If you are heading over to Amazon.com today, consider pre-ordering a copy of my book too. ;-) My Amazon.com Sales Rank: #686,344 in Books. :-)
Update: 9:24 PM
My book is now Amazon.com Sales Rank: #75,874 in Books
Thanks Chris!
