Wireless Headphones, Free Music, and Alicia Keys

I'm listening to Free Music using Wireless Headphones!

Last night I plugged in this set of FREETALK Freedom Wireless Headphones.

The instructions were PC based, so I had to figure out how to connect them to a Mac.

Here's how.

CONENCT HEADPHONES AND CHARGE
The headphones connect via a cable to a USB dongle, which connects to the computer.

I charged up the headphones overnight. The instructions say to charge initially for 4 hours.

IGNORE DRIVERS CD
There's also a CD with drivers on it, but I usualy ignore those because most of the time drivers are not needed on a Mac. :-)

PAIR THE HEADPHONES TO THE COMPUTER
I pushed a button on the headphones and then on the dongle to pair them together.

SET COMPUTER OUTPUT
I changed my MacBook Pro's sound output to go to the headphones.

This morning I unplugged the USB cable connecting the two.

While looking into the Free Music Archive: Elektronova I found a song I wanted to listen to, Free Music Archive: Elektronova.

I started playing it, and the music came out of my headphones.

Whoa!

Very clear music. Hang on while I walk away from the computer to see how far I can go...

Okay, I'm back.

The sounds was brilliant all the way to the first floor of my house. The computer is on the third floor. When I went outside to get the newspaper the music cut out.

I don't have the headphones anymore.

My wife asked what I was doing, walking around with headphones, I told her.

Now she is wearing them in the other room.

...

I just got them back.

Now I'm listening to Alicia Keys, Empire State of Mind (Part II), on iTunes. Audio quality is very good and wireless is really great.

Here's the music video:

Next up, a test with Skype.
