Talking Heads Are Boring

Web usability guru Jakob Nielsen says that Talking-Head Video Is Boring Online.

I'm a big fan of David Byrne and the Talking Heads.

The Talking Heads are not boring.

A talking head, it depends.

If you've got one talking head, talking directly into a camera on a video, it's just like a podcast with a still image. Although the viewer might be bored with the images presented, and their eyes might wander, this doesn't necessarily mean that they would be bored by the content.

If you've got multiple talking heads on a video, the video helps you follow the conversation and who's talking.

If you've got a talking head on a video, demonstrating something or showing you something, then you've got a video that might be worth watching.
