David Archuleta's Imagine Not on iTunes
This morning I blogged about looking for David Archuleta's Imagine on the iTunes music store: David Archuleta — “Imagine” — MP3.
It's still not there, and the Pre-Order link is gone.
What is happening at the iTunes music store? I don't see any of the guy's songs from Tuesday night on there, and the girl's songs have an expected release date of Friday.
Seems like a long lead time to me.

"People don't vote on policy, they vote for leaders, for people whose values seem American to them, for people they feel they can trust."
What Do Elders Think About John McCain's Age?
The Time Goes By Interview - Alex Bennett:
"Ronni Bennett: John McCain is being attacked more frequently lately as being too old - 72 at inauguration if he is elected - to be president. What do you think?
Alex Bennett: Well, death or incapacity could be more of a reality at his age as it is for the rest of us, so who he chooses as his VP is crucial. Obama will no doubt use his age as a negative."

"SEN. CLINTON: Well, can I just point out that in the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time. And I don't mind. I -- you know, I'll be happy to field them, but I do find it curious, and if anybody saw 'Saturday Night Live,' you know, maybe we should ask Barack if he's comfortable and needs another pillow. (Laughter, boos.) I just find it kind of curious that I keep getting the first question on all of these issues. But I'm happy to answer it."

Clinton's Disheveled Campaign
The Audacity of Hopelessness - New York Times:
"This is the candidate who keeps telling us she’s so competent that she’ll be ready to govern from Day 1. Mrs. Clinton may be right that Mr. Obama has a thin resume, but her disheveled campaign keeps reminding us that the biggest item on her thicker resume is the health care task force that was as botched as her presidential bid."via [ Dave Winer ]

Super Tuesday became a tech tour de force for the UpTake
Julio Ojeda-Zapata writes, Technology A to Z - With easy, affordable tools, anyone can be a video journalist:
Mobile phones. The video cameras in newer cell phones have become live-reporting tools, courtesy of new services that send moving images over the Internet as they're being captured. These services include Qik, Kyte, ComVu and Flixwagon. When paired with certain cutting-edge handsets, such as Nokia's N95, video journalism becomes possible.
Reuters has paired N95s with the ComVu service as part of a Mobile Journalism Toolkit experiment. Minnesota-based Technology Evangelist, which specializes in Web-based video coverage of technology topics, used Qik for live reporting from the Consumer Electronics Show late last year. During the recent Super Tuesday of U.S. presidential primaries and caucuses, MTV sponsored 51 citizen journalists using phones equipped with Flixwagon.
Likewise, the UpTake has harnessed Qik with several N95s for live webcasting on the group's home page. It accomplished this with a first-ever melding of Qik with Mogulus, which permitted N95-packing UpTake correspondents in St. Paul and Boston to zap their video directly to that little window on the group's home page.
Super Tuesday became a tech tour de force for the UpTake.
Chuck Olsen was in a New Orleans bar during Mardi Gras celebrations (Super Tuesday and Fat Tuesday happened to coincide this year), webcasting live via Mogulus and the iSight videocam built into his MacBook Pro laptop. This permitted him to co-anchor the UpTake's national coverage of that night's political mega-event (despite a few technical glitches) alongside volunteers in St. Paul.
UpTake executive director Jason Barnett was in St. Paul with one of the organization's two N95s, transmitting footage of inner-city Democratic caucusing. Video blogger Steve Garfield had the other N95 in Boston, transmitting from a bar near Fenway Park as he solicited the political views of fellow tech-heads. This event was a technical coup for Garfield, a veteran Qik user, who negotiated the agreement between Mogulus and Qik so the services could interact for the first time.

Superdelegates are changing their minds
Soaring Obama starting to reel in superdelegates - The Boston Globe:
WASHINGTON - The Democratic superdelegates are starting to follow the voters - straight to Barack Obama.
In just the past two weeks as Obama has reeled off 11 straight victories, more than two dozen of them have climbed aboard his presidential campaign, according to a survey by the Associated Press. Hillary Clinton's are beginning to jump ship, abandoning her for Obama or deciding they now are undecided.
The result: He's narrowing her once-commanding lead among these superdelegates, the Democratic officeholders and party officials who attend the national convention and can vote for whomever they choose."

What YouTube is not
Henry Jenkins writes, Learning From YouTube: An Interview with Alex Juhasz (Part One):
What YouTube is not:
Alex Juhasz taught a course about YouTube last term at Pizer College, a small liberal arts school in California. As she explains below, Juhasz and her students adopted novel strategies for not simply engaging with YouTube content but also for using the YouTube platform to communicate their findings to a world beyond the classroom.
What YouTube is not:
What limitations did you discover about Youtube as a vehicle for critique and analysis?
My hope that the students would be able to see and name the limits of this site as a place for higher education were quickly met. By the mid-term, we could effectively articulate what the site was not doing for us. Our main criticisms came around these four structural limitations: communication, community, research, and idea-building. We found the site to inexcusably poor at:-allowing for lengthy, linked, synchronous conversation using the written word outside the degenerated standards of many on-line exchanges where slurs, phrases, and inanities stand-in for dialogue.
-creating possibilities for communal exchange and interaction (note the extremely limited functionality of YouTube's group pages, where we tried our best to organize our class work and lines of conversation), including the ability to maintain and experience communally permanent maps of viewing experiences.
-finding pertinent materials: the paucity of its search function, currently managed by users who create the tags for searching, means it is difficult to thoroughly search the massive holdings of the site. For YouTube to work for academic learning, it needs some highly trained archivists and librarians to systematically sort, name, and index its materials.
-linking video, and ideas, so that concepts, communities and conversation can grow. It is a hallmark of the academic experience to carefully study, cite, and incrementally build an argument. This is impossible on YouTube.

Len Edgerly interviewed me for Audio Pod Chronicles: 53 Conversation with Steve Garfield. Listen.
Len describes the interview:
Video evangelist Steve Garfield met me this morning at Sweet Finnish at 761 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, where each month for the past two years he has hosted Boston Media Makers in a back room filled with fascinating media creators, artists, and gadget freaks who have a chance to meet and share enthusiasms and info. BMM meets the first Sunday of the month at 10 a.m. for two hours. In this interview, Steve remembers how he first got into blogging, then video blogging, a genre he pretty much invented, and now live mobile "storycasting." Steve shows how a playful, experimental, happy engagement with new technology can yield results far beyond a mere effort to "monetize" internet innovation. He does talk about the nuts and bolts of moving toward making a living in this space, as well as what he's learning right now about the new frontier of mobile live broadcasting.I enjoyed talking with Len. I hope you like the interview.

Barack Obama cruised past a fading Hillary Rodham Clinton
Obama Wins Wis. Primary, Hawaii Caucus:
WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama cruised past a fading Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Wisconsin primary and Hawaii caucuses Tuesday night, gaining the upper hand in a Democratic presidential race for the ages. It's not looking good for Hillary. People don't like her going negative.
The twin triumphs made 10 straight for Obama, and left the former first lady in desperate need of a comeback in a race she long commanded as front-runner.
Allocation of the 20 Hawaii delegates was not being calculated until later Wednesday.
The network commentators like John King on CNN are now asking people to exclude the Superdelegate count when looking at the race to see who is ahead.
Like I've been saying all along.
Superdelegates are going to change their minds and back the front runner.

Superdelegates are under no obligation to follow the will of the voters
Pressure's on Mass. superdelegates - The Boston Globe:
"Unlike the 93 Massachusetts delegates whose votes at the convention must reflect the results of the Feb. 5 primary, which Clinton won, the superdelegates are free to pick either candidate. According to Democratic Party rules, superdelegates are under no obligation to follow the will of the voters, as history has shown.
In 1984, Massachusetts superdelegates lined up behind eventual nominee Walter F. Mondale, helping him carry the state at the Democratic National Convention, even though Gary Hart had won the state's primary."

195 More Days of Infighting?
The Democratic National Convention takes place in Denver on August 25-28, 2008 and the United States Presidential Election is November 4, 2008.
195 Days
That means, that as of today, there are 195 days until the Democratic Convention.
That's 195 days of Democrats going at each other.
At this rate the Democrats will spend more time campaigning against each other to get the nomination, than to defeat the opposition candidate.
68 Days
There are 68 days between the Democratic Convention and Election Day.
That's 68 days that the Democratic candidate can campaign against the Republican, and any Independent candidate.
August - 3 days
September - 30 days
October - 31 days
November - 4 days

Superdelegates will move to Obama
William Kristol writes about my favorite topic, the free thinking, mind changing superdelegtes Obama’s Path to Victory - New York Times:
I’ll avoid a false precision in the numbers that follow. There are minor differences among news organizations in projecting delegate allocations in states that have already voted, and in counting preferences among the 796 elected officials and party leaders — the “superdelegates” — who vote according to their choice, not voters’ instruction. He goes on to talk about judgement:
Obama leads Clinton by roughly 70 delegates among about 2,000 chosen so far in primaries and caucuses. (There are still about 1,200 delegates outstanding.) Among the superdelegates, Clinton is ahead by about 100 superdelegates among the 300 who have declared a preference (though any of them can change their mind, so a count of them now is in large measure premature).
"Many of these superdelegates are elected officials. They tend to care about winning in November. The polls suggest Obama matches up better with John McCain. And the polls are merely echoing the judgment of almost every Democratic elected official from a competitive district or a swing state with whom I’ve spoken. They would virtually all prefer Obama at the top of the ticket.
All of this will move the superdelegates to Obama — perhaps as early as just after March 4, or perhaps not until April 22, or perhaps not even until the last match-up on June 7. But the superdelegates will want to avoid a situation in which they could be in the position of seeming to override the popular vote, or of resolving a bitter battle over whether and how to count votes from Florida and Michigan, at the convention.
And there are, as a final resort, two super-superdelegates (so to speak) who would have the clout to help Democrats achieve closure: Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi.
If they stepped forward at the right time, they would earn the gratitude of their party. And they might also enjoy contemplating a derivative effect of their good deed — the fall of the house of Clinton."
Superdelegates Will Go With The Flow
For Clinton, Bid Hinges on Texas and Ohio - New York Times:
"Several Clinton superdelegates, whose votes could help decide the nomination, said Monday that they were wavering in the face of Mr. Obama’s momentum after victories in Washington State, Nebraska, Louisiana and Maine last weekend.Good reasen for major media outlet to STOP counting superdelegates in their delegate count.
Some said that they, like the hundreds of uncommitted superdelegates still at stake, might ultimately “go with the flow,” in the words of one, and support the candidate who appears to show the most strength in the primaries to come."

The superdelegates ALWAYS blow with the wind
MyDD :: CBS: Obama Has Delegate Lead, Even Considering Superdelegates:
"Superdelegates: A Wee Reality Check
Folks...
The Superdelegate story is a tasty media-cooked stew that lacks real sustenance! The superdelegates ALWAYS blow with the wind and follow the national leader. Watch for two things to begin if the HRC machine caqn't win at least ONE of the Chesepeake primaries:
1) Superdelegates who have declared/stated a 'preference', will start to publically waver, or peel away from HRC.
2) The drumbeat for her to drop out will begin, for the sake of unifying the party NOW before the Superdelegate 'issue' (weak as it is) gets more play, or democratic grass roots get more vitriolic.
BOTH these phenomena will increase should she also not win WI or HI. Mark my words. The pressure for her to drop out will begin Wednesday at midnight should she lose all three.
How will her campaign react to this?

The Real Delegate Count
The Real Delegate Count - Originally uploaded on flickr by stevegarfield.
Truthout: The Real Delegate Count:
The Associated Press and other media outlets are trying to tell us they know how many delegates each candidate will get out of Iowa, just as I told you they would in a previous article. Florida and Michigan make the delegate count even more confusing.Bothers me to.
David Redlawsk, an associate professor of political science at the University of Iowa, who teaches a course on the Iowa caucuses, confirmed the numbers the media is projecting for Iowa delegate allocation is nothing more than a prediction. He said it bothers him the media is reporting these numbers as if they are factual since it is very unlikely the final count will be the same after the district level conventions, where delegates to the national convention will be chosen. He also pointed out the super delegate count could also change dramatically since none of them are committed to remain with the candidates they now say they are supporting.
Every time.
And then there's this:
Hillary Clinton's advisers 'in a state of panic':
The Clinton camp is braced for Mr Obama to win a series of primary elections over the next three weeks, which they fear could hand the Illinois senator unstoppable momentum in the race for the White House. Here we go Obama, Here we go!
Mr Obama has begun calling those "super delegates" - 795 congressmen and senior party officials who could break a dead heat - who are committed to Mrs Clinton, asking them to change their minds and help him wrap up the nomination.
As of tonight, the two candidates were neck and neck but Mr Obama appeared to be gaining momentum.
"He's saying: 'Hey, I won your state and I won your congressional district, why are you supporting her?'" a Democrat strategist revealed.
Here we go Obama, Here we go!
Here we go Obama, Here we go!
