Stocking Jamaica Pond 2009

State officials and Boston school childred stocked Jamaica Pond with 925 state hatchery raised trout and salmon.

Featured in the video is Ken Simmons, Chief of Hatcheries, State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, and a big brown trout.

  2. When you handle a fish like that, you remove the layer of mucus that protects their body from infection and parasites. Pulling a fish out of the water and having someone "pet" it is a bad idea. You can't help doing it when you are catch-and-return fishing, but this was foolish. But then it's good public relations.

    There are various sea vessels involved in shipping to jamaica. It may include box boats or container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, ferries, cable layers, dredgers and barges.
