Hmmm. I would love some JP salmon.

 

When you handle a fish like that, you remove the layer of mucus that protects their body from infection and parasites. Pulling a fish out of the water and having someone "pet" it is a bad idea. You can't help doing it when you are catch-and-return fishing, but this was foolish. But then it's good public relations.
